Club Ethos

As a group, we are here to promote good and responsible dog ownership.  We whole heartedly support the " No Off Lead" rule when out with the club at events, unless of course in a safe fenced off area such as a tennis court.  We advise members as not every Sled dog has 100% recall all the time, and with some sled dogs no amount of training will work, as their urge to run, and chase pray etc is too strong!  We have all read stories about these dogs being killed in a road accident " or "shot by a farmer for worrying livestock" this is why we do advocate sled dogs on lead with the exception of safe enclosed areas!  We promote "responsible dog ownership", as we do have first time Sled dog owners in our group and we would like them to fully understand why this rule on the group exists.

We will not re-home dogs normally.  On our Facebook page there's an extensive list of rehoming contacts in the files for members to use, pass on to people who need this information.  **There are exceptional circumstances, we don't want any sled dog dumped and left, so please contact a member of the administration team if you find yourself in this position.**

We are here to help, inform and educate people about sled dogs and their needs.  Come together as a group to walk and work our dogs in a comfortable, safe and controlled environment.  Most importantly enjoy our dogs along with like minded people and make new friends.

Please note that SDSW does not condone back yard breeding at all, we have helped many sled dog rescues and a lot of our members have re-homed rescue sled dogs, due to people breeding without knowledge or care of what happens to these puppies and dogs futures!  Even if you don't want to put your girl or boy through a surgical operation, there are contraceptive injections available to chemically neuter them, so there's no excuse to breed from a bitch or dog!  We do not condone breeding other than for show, and for the betterment of the breed, any member found breeding with the sole purpose of making money and without correct health testing or care of where the puppies will be going will be instantly banned from the group.

Please do not abuse our generosity and care of animal husbandry.  We are not here to advertise dogs or puppies for sale.  Information and photographs are copyrighted and are the intellectual property of SDSW, and copies without asking permission is illegal and will not be tolerated.

We at SDSW are avid supporters of The Yellow Dog Project, and believe that dogs need space, Click the link for full information. http://www.yellowdoguk.co.uk/
